Steam-Powered, All-Terrain Vehicle

The Experimental Steam-Powered, All-Terrain Vehicle is based around an armoured transport currently under test with the British Army in the war against the Ashante. The bodywork is built from thin steel armour plate around a chassis from John Fowler and Company of Leeds. The boiler is an industrial model of the type used in traction engines, designed by Richard Hornsby & Sons. Capable of nearly five hours travel between refueling stops at speeds in excess of twenty-four miles per hour, the rubber-coated caterpillar tracks make the ruggedest ground passable in relative comfort.
The cabin is designed to hold a driver, and a group of six explorers with all their scientific and research equipment, or a troop of eight men with full kit and an officer. If necessity dictates, a dozen people can be seated in more cramped conditions.
